✦ Traditional arts, crafts, and heritage skills across Alberta
Our Flagship Vision

A place where the past is practised

Our Vision

Some things can't be learned from a screen or a book. They have to be seen, smelled, touched, and tried. That's why we're working toward a place of our own: a historical village, living-history site, demonstration farm, and forge where heritage skills are lived, not just displayed.

Imagine stepping onto a working site where coal smoke rolls from the blacksmith's chimney, the rhythmic clack of a four-harness loom carries from the weavers' barn, and students are fitting hand-hewn tenons into cedar posts with traditional wooden mallets.

What we're building toward

✦

Working workshops where craftspeople teach and practise

Permanent guild spaces for blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving, and leatherwork equipped with traditional anvils, foot-powered lathes, and loom benches.

✦

A demonstration farm and gardens

Heritage crops, heritage grain trials, heirloom seed gardens, flax plots, and natural dye plant beds managed through regenerative pre-industrial methods.

✦

A forge and traditional building sites

Stone hearths, bellows, timber-framed barns, and lime-mortar masonry workshops built by the hands of our community.

✦

A library, archive, and collection of tools, texts, and artifacts

A safeguarded repository of heritage trade manuals, pattern books, oral histories, and antique hand tools saved for active study.

✦

Exhibits and living-history programs open to the public

A welcoming, experiential destination for curious families, travellers, and history enthusiasts across Canada and beyond.

✦

A gathering place for schools, families, and community groups

Dedicated pavilions and hearths hosting field trips, multi-week apprentice cohorts, and seasonal harvest celebrations.

Where we are now

"We're in the early stages: securing a site, building our board, and launching our first programs. The foundation you help build now becomes the ground this village stands on."

We are currently in active dialogue with landowners, municipal heritage boards, and philanthropic patrons across Alberta to designate land suitable for timber buildings, forge grounds, and agricultural test gardens. Every dollar and volunteer hour contributed today lays the cornerstone of this legacy.
